Use your God-given talents and interests to serve our Lord.

Put Your Spiritual Gifts to Work to Support Our Ministries

There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work.
1 Corinthians 12:4-6

The First Epistle of Paul, Chapter 12, speaks of the diversity of spiritual gifts we have, yet they are of the same Spirit. God has indeed blessed each of us with special talents we can put to good use—to glorify Him—at Fallsington United Methodist Church. We have a number of committees that are always looking for a helping hand. There are opportunities to teach Sunday School, nursery, or help lead our youth. Perhaps you love to praise the Lord through music. Or maybe you hear a calling to help support those who need a hand. If you’re up to speed on the latest technologies, you may want to support our efforts to reach out to the community via the internet or through social media. The sky is the limit when it comes to ways our congregation can participate. Our leadership is always open to new ideas and suggestions. We want you to know the great feeling of being involved!

Get started by completing a Spiritual Gifts Inventory to help assess the types of gifts you possess. Then review the 18 Biblical Spiritual Gifts list to prayerfully consider your strengths. Then complete the form below or speak to Pastor Joe about specific ways to get involved to share your spiritual gifts to support our ministries.

Church Leadership Positions

Administrative Board

The administrative board is the executive agency of the local church which oversees the administration and program of the congregation’s life and is responsible for overall planning, goals, policies, and evaluation of ministries. The chairperson guides the work of the Administrative Board. The Ad Board secretary keeps and distributes minutes of Board meetings. Monthly meetings are also attended by the pastor and representatives of various church committees. At-large board member positions are also open for those interested in the administration of the church.

BOARD OF TRUSTEES

The board of trustees oversees, maintains, and supervises church property, investments, and insurance. Effective trustees will function as Christian stewards of property God has entrusted to the congregation. This includes supervising and maintaining both the physical property of the congregation and gifts made to the congregation so that the ministries of the congregation can be effective and all legal requirements related to the property are satisfied. The board comprises the pastor, chairperson, and a team of board members.

FINANCE COMMITTEE

An effective finance committee proposes a budget; then raises, manages, and distributes the financial resources of the congregation to support and strengthen the mission and ministry of the congregation. The church treasurer disburses money & keeps accurate records of spending. The finance chairperson builds our annual budget to support the ministry and mission of the church. The chairperson also develops and carries out plans to support the budget. The financial secretary receives and records funds.

LAY LEADERSHIP

The lay leader represents the laypeople in the congregation in working with the pastor for the mission and vision of the congregation. The lay member to annual conference attends & represents laity at the Eastern PA United Methodist Annual Conference. Lay leaders are encouraged to take training to become Christ Servant Ministers. More information about lay servant ministry courses and resources can be found here.

Pastor-Parish Relationship Committee (PPRC)

The pastor-parish relationship committee supports the pastor and church staff to foster effective relationships and ministry in the congregation. An effective committee understands the feelings within the congregation about the pastor’s leadership and builds a strong positive relationship between staff and congregation so that the congregation makes disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. This committee will work with the lead pastor and other staff to fulfill legal and ethical responsibilities related to staff.

Church Committees

MISSIONS COMMITTEE

The missions committee provides opportunities for the congregation to address the needs of others and spread the gospel through witness and service. An effective missions committee leader will guide the congregation to spread the gospel message of God’s love through witness and service in the community and the world. This congregation will have a plan for mission service opportunities for all ages and all stages of faith so that people live as Christian disciples transforming the world.

OUTREACH COMMITTEE

The outreach committee plans fundraising events and explores community outreach opportunities. Events such as the Live Nativity, Lunch with Santa, and the annual Pasta Dinner are activities of this committee. Effective outreach teams will address the concerns and conditions of people in their congregations and communities so that they may grow in their spiritual lives and become better equipped for life as Christian disciples.

WORSHIP COMMITTEE

The worship committee works with the pastor to provide worship opportunities that will help people develop and strengthen their relationship with God. Members of this committee also lead the congregation in providing opportunities for worship celebrations that focus on God, help people of all ages grow in their understanding of the gospel, and become better equipped for daily living as faithful disciples.

Communications Team (New!)

The communications team keeps the congregation and community informed about church activities. Our shepherd’s ministry calls or sends text messages to the congregation to keep them informed. The communications team also manages the church website, social media pages, church newsletters, and email correspondence to the congregation.

TECHNOLOGY COMMITTEE

The technology committee addresses the technology needs of the church.

Ministry Opportunities

Bible Studies

Bible study classes are available periodically throughout the year to provide spiritual education and fellowship with others. To accommodate the schedules of participants, generally, daytime and evening classes are offered. Additionally, small prayer and study groups are encouraged to provide additional opportunities for people to share their faith, study the Word of God, and provide spiritual support to one another during challenging times. Occasionally groups take part in weekend retreats which offer a change of scenery and opportunities to reflect on God, His Word, and the Holy Spirit at work in our lives.

The youth also participate in special Sunday worship services.

Each year a different theme is selected, and our church is transformed to set the stage for skits, songs, crafts, snacks, lessons, and more. Many volunteers are needed to make each year’s program a success.
